Deanna Richardson Carpinteri has been a dance educator for over twenty-nine years. J&D Dance Academy was established 20 years ago by Deanna-'D' and her sister Jodi-'J'. Together the sisters created a wonderful studio for dance in the beautiful town of Reading. As the establishment rapidly grew to include all-star cheerleading teams, Jodi became the owner of J&D Cheer & Dance of Woburn and Billerica. Deanna became the owner of J&D Dance Academy of Reading. Dancing since the age of three, Deanna began her teaching career at the young age of sixteen. She graduated from the “Dance Teachers Club of Boston-Teacher Training Program” in 1994 and has since been on the faculties of many area dance studios teaching ages three to adult, beginners up to the more advanced dancers. Deanna believes that the balance of structure, discipline and fun as well as the quality of training presented in each class makes J & D Dance Academy of Reading an enjoyable place for both students and their parents. Deanna continues to train and provide fresh new techniques for her students. In her spare time, together with her seventeen-year-old daughter Talia, she trains as a competitive ballroom dancer which she enjoys very much!
Dancing since birth basically, Talia is proud to have made the transition from "Ms. Deanna's daughter" & student at J&D to faculty member! Talia grew up in the studio attending classes, competing, and assistant teaching. Talia loves and excels in all styles of dance; however, a huge passion for her is Ballroom. She is the United States Amateur Rhythm Champion for 2016 & 2017 and was undefeated on the college circuit. She currently attends Bentley University and is a Professional Major League Lacrosse Dancer for the Boston Cannons. Talia teaches dance at LifeTime Athletic in Burlington and is the Head Dance Director/ Choreographer at Boston Children's Chorus. Some of Talia's most recent work includes dancing for New Balance's line reveal, and demonstrating for Nancy Kerrigan and Artem Chigvintsev on ABC's DWTS season 24. We are excited to welcome Talia to the faculty!
Marisa has been dancing for 25 years. She returns to J & D where she previously taught and took classes for nearly 15 years. Dancing since the age of three, Marisa began her teaching career as an assistant instructor at J & D when she was 15. She graduated from the "Dance Teachers Club of Boston - Teacher Training Program" in 2007. Throughout her adult life Marisa has continued to dance ballet, tap, and contemporary. Marisa has her Masters degree in Elementary Education and taught Kindergarten in Boston Public Schools for four years where she worked to instill movement, dance, and joy into the everyday classroom. Her recent career switch to a curriculum designer for primary grades has allowed for more flexibility in her schedule, and thus a return to the studio. Marisa is thrilled and excited to rejoin J & D, a place that is like a second home.
