Updated 8/1/2020

In order to provide a safe place for our dancers, their families, and our staff, we have increased our overall cleaning and sanitization of our facilities and implemented the policies and procedures listed below. J & D Dance Academy reserves the right to change our policies as new guidelines are established by state and/or local authorities.

Come Prepared
Dancers should arrive to class already dressed to dance with minimal items to take off/store. Slip on shoes are best.

Limited Capacity & Dance Blocks
Class sizes are significantly limited. Dancers will be assigned an individual 6ft x 6ft "Dance Block" for class to ensure 6ft social distancing at all times.

Revised & Contact-Free
Class curriculum has been revised to be contact free with no hand holding, prop sharing, high fives etc.

Required Inside & Outside Facility
Staff, dancers (all ages) and visitors must wear a face covering inside, while dancing and outside the facility as well as maintain 6ft social distance from others at all times. Masks must have ear loops and cover both the nose and mouth entirely.

Not Permitted
Food/drink are not permitted in the facility other than student-provided water bottles.

Upon Entry & Exiting Studio
Students will be provided with and required to use hand sanitizer upon entry and exiting the studio.

2nd-12th Grade
Spectators, inclusive of parents, guardians, visitors, siblings and guests for dancers in 2nd-12th Grade are not permitted inside the facility. All non-dancers must wear a face covering outside of our facility while maintaining 6ft social distance during drop off and pick up. All dancers and non-dancers should refrain from congregating during drop off & pick up. Parents are asked to drop off no more than 5 minutes before class starts.

Teachers and Students
In the event that a teacher or student tests positive, everyone that this person had direct contact with (ie in the same classroom at the same time) will be notified as soon as possible and required to stay home for 14 days. Anyone who tests positive will be required to provide a negative test result before re-entering the building.

Drop Off / Pick Up
Preschool through grade 1 dancers may have (1) parent/guardian for drop-off and pick up purposes only. This person must wear a face mask inside and outside the facility, maintain 6ft social distance from others. They are not allowed inside the building for a cumulative time other than to escort their dancer into the dance room and are not permitted to wait inside the building during class. The dancers will be dismissed one at time to their caregiver to be escorted outside.

Stop The Spread
If a dancer is exhibiting even minor symptoms while in class we will immediately remove the dancer from the room and call the parent/guardian to retrieve the dancer. We stress for our dance community to err on the side of caution and keep your dancer home if you see any COVID-19 related signs/symptoms, even minor. If your dancer or a family member has tested positive, has been in contact with someone who has, or if you suspect ‘possible’ exposure your dancer MUST stay home and follow state guidelines for quarantine as well as contact J & D Dance Academy as soon as possible: Phone: 781-942-5990 Email: deetondu@comcast.net

Disinfection & Limited Use
Ballet barres, equipment and props will be used on a very limited basis and will be sanitized between each use. Studio floors will be disinfected before each new class.

Contactless Transactions
Tuition checks should be mailed to our PO Box 602 Reading, MA 01867

Moving Online
In the event that we are forced to close for an extended period of time, all classes will transition to a virtual offering. We will provide full details when the time comes and make the transition as quick and as painless as possible.

Our Common Areas and Restrooms are closed to all parents, siblings, guests and visitors. Restrooms are available to dancers only.

Assumption Of Risk
Before a dancer may participate in class we must have received their signed Liability/Assumption Of Risk Waiver. If you registered online, your acceptance of the COVID-19 waiver occurred during that process. If you are registering in person or over the phone, please print and sign the waiver form linked at the bottom of this page.
